Commuters flock to counters to book tickets for Dashain (Photos)
Advanced ticket booking for long routes for the upcoming Dashain festival has opened from Tuesday.
Passengers leaving the Kathmandu Valley to reach their homes queued up from Monday midnight at various ticket counters to book their bus tickets. However, the ticket counters opened only at 6 am Tuesday.
Kishore Nepal, who was standing in the queue for booking ticket, complained that passengers are forced to stand in line for a long time as tickets of various destinations are being distributed from the same counter. "The counter is distributing tickets for Arghakhanchi, Palpa and Gulmi districts. I'm still waiting for my turn although I am in queue from 4 am."
Passengers are accustomed to such unmanaged ticket booking systems for the festivals.
"There was token system in the morning. As the counter got crowded, the system was cancelled and we were told to stand in queue," passengers said.
A monitoring team comprising 36 members has been mobilized by the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) to curtail black marketing in tickets. Spokesperson at DoTM Tokraj Pandey said that no one has yet been arrested for blackmarketeering.
