9 injured as NC cadres clash over election tickets in Siraha (With Video)
Nine persons have been injured as factions of Nepali Congress (NC) cadres clashed due to dispute over selecting the party's candidates in Siraha Municipality of Siraha on Wednesday.
The party had convened a meeting in the morning after failing to decide over the tickets even on the day of filing nominations. "They started to fight inside the party office at around 11:30 am and nine cadres have been injured," Chief of Siraha Police SP Shekhar Koirala said. "The meeting continues even now and we have sent a large number of security persons to ensure there is no incident of violence," he added.
The injured nine persons are currently being treated for minor injuries at the district hospital. Candidates are filing nominations for 136 local bodies in eight districts of Province 2 for the third phase of local elections scheduled for September 18.
