6 of single family killed as flood sweeps away jeep in Rautahat

At least six members of a single family have been killed when a jeep was swept away after the Baman embankment in Rajpur Municipality-3 of the district suddenly broke due to the incessant rainfall on Sunday morning.

The ill-fated jeep, carrying six people including a pregnant woman, was heading to health center.

"The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Chandan Yadav of Paroha Rural Municipality-3, his wife Sharmila Yadav, his mother Sumitra Devi, his daughter Chotu Yadav,  Lalita Devi and Saroj Yadav," a local Shesh Wakil informed.

SP Yagya Binod Pokharel at the District Police Office, Rautahat said that the bodies of deceased have been recovered.

The family rushed to hospital at 3 Sunday morning after Chandan's wife Sharmila complained of labor pain.
