Indian minister Swaraj arrives for BIMSTEC meeting

Indian external Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has arrived in Kathmandu Thursday afternoon to attend the minister-level meeting of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) scheduled to start Thursday evening.

Foreign ministers from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand will also attend the meeting that will end on Friday.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate and address the minister-level meeting in the evening. Foreign ministers of the member countries will play a collective courtesy call on PM Deuba. 

Indian minister Swaraj will also have bilateral meetings with PM Deuba and other senior leaders during her stay in Nepal.  

The 18th session of the BIMSTEC Senior Officials' Meeting has already kicked off on Thursday. The two-day meeting will set the agenda for the 15th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting scheduled for August.
