Govt, RJP agree to postpone election in Province No. 2

The government on Thursday has decided to postpone the election in Province No. 2.

The meeting of ruling coalition parties with the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) held on Thursday afternoon at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Minister in Singha Durbar has decided to postpone the election in Province No. 2.

The top leaders also agreed to extend the filing of the nominations for three days.

"We've agreed to postpone the election in Province No. 2 and filing of nomination has also been extended for three days." Spokesperson of CPN (Maoist Center) Pampha Bhushal informed after the meeting.

"The decision in this regard will be taken today itself after the Cabinet meeting."

Similarly, Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma, who is also CPN (Maoist Center) leader, informed that the second round of local election scheduled for June 28 has been postponed in Province No.2. Sharma informed that the election will be conducted in remaining provinces 1, 5 and 7 on stipulated date.

The top leaders of ruling parties are currently consulting with agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) on date for holding election in province no. 2 at the Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar.
